Pine Knot Update
What’s Going on at Christ the King Anglican Mission, Pine Knot, Kentucky? The Rev. Mike Neal
It has been an active past several months here in Daniel Boone Country at Christ the King Anglican Mission in Pine Knot, Kentucky. In early May several of our church family attended the CANA East Synod in Binghamton, New York, where everyone had the chance to hear wonderful preaching and teaching from Archbishop Foley Beach and brother Lee Gatiss. We welcomed several new churches into our fold as a diocese. Also we were able to fellowship with those we hadn’t seen in a while, and with our fellow Nigerian brothers and sisters as well.
While attending Synod, we had the pleasure of meeting with Bishop and Mama Dogo of the Diocese of Kafanchan in the Church of Nigeria. In fact, they visited us while Bishop was attending classes at Asbury Theological Seminary several weeks after our Synod. It was a wonderful blessing and honor to have them with us.
Finally, we at Christ the King Anglican have recently purchased our own permanent church building that we had been in prayer about for several months. During Bishop Dobbs visit in January he, along with Peter and Betty Schoew and several others from our congregation, went and looked at, and prayed over the building and property. Bishop and Mama Dogo also went to the property with us and prayed over it in May during their visit. We purchased and closed on the building on June 1st. Thanks be to God!
This is just a short synopsis of what has been taking place at Christ the King and we pray that God would use us to further His kingdom in Southeastern Kentucky and Daniel Boone Country.
