Reflections on the GAFCON Meeting in Jerusalem
Bishop David Bena
Many wonderful things happened at GAFCON 2018, meeting in Jerusalem last week.
1. A great Reunion of Anglicans from around the world. Since I have been "at this ministry" for quite a few years, I was able to renew friendships with fellow Anglicans who have been advocating for a biblical style of Anglicanism.
2. A great unity as we melded as one in our desire to "faithfully preach Christ to the nations of the world."
3. A great time of bible study. Some of the most powerful Anglican scholars and leaders led us in daily studies from the bible regarding evangelization and faith-sharing.
4. Finally, a great time of praising God in worship. Each day, we began with rousing Morning Prayer services, and continued praising Him through song and prayer throughout the day.
You were represented well by CANA East participants. Our Bishop Julian was at the forefront of planning and problem solving throughout the conference. Twelve people from CANA East assisted in various ways at this monumental worldwide Anglican gathering. Word is that it was the largest gathering of Anglicans in over fifty years!!!
